Local Law Enforcement
Roughly 50 vehicles have been covered with what seems to be human blood in the German town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to authorities.
Vehicles, exterior walls and mailboxes were defaced, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they reported in a release.
Officers report they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a individual noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a reddish-hued liquid.
The substance had been applied in the form of a Nazi symbol, they added.
Officers then located multiple other smeared automobiles and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
These symbols are illegal in Germany under laws banning the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.
Law enforcement report early analysis show the liquid was probably blood from a person.
"There is still no lead as to where it came from; investigators are presently not informed of any injuries in connection with the event," they commented.
Local authorities said they were trying "to resolve the mystery" and have requested to the community for tips.
An important official said the attack made him stunned and needed to be resolved quickly.
"This act hits the core of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the far-right violent incident five years ago," he posted on a platform, recalling the murder of nine individuals by a gunman targeting people of migrant background in February 2020.
